The Pontoon Beach Police Commission announces a career opportunity for employment with the Pontoon Beach Police Department.
The purpose of the testing is to establish an eligibility list for the future police officer hiring. The list will serve as the sole resource of persons hired for the position of police officer.
The qualification list below is not a complete listing of qualifications, but an overview:
- MUST be a minimum age of 21 years old
- MUST possess or be able to obtain a valid Illinois driver's license
- MUST pass a written examination, physical agility test, polygraph test, background investigation, medical examination and psychological exam
- MUST be an Illinois resident and comply with the Village of Pontoon Beach Ordinance concerning residency (if hired)
- MUST have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
- MUST have 20/20 vision or correctable to 20/20 with glasses and shall not be colorblind
Applicant MUST sign for an application packet. A copy of the applicant's driver's license will be made at that time.
Applications can be picked up at the Pontoon Beach Police Department; NO applications will be handed out after 5:00pm on February 2, 2017.

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM METRO-EAST MONTESSORI SCHOOL
Metro-East Montessori School in Pontoon Beach, has just been awarded over $40,000.00 for the 2016 Innovative Technology Education Fund (ITEF) Grant. The Grant titled "MEMS Farmaker Program" will provide the funds for a 3D printer, Tetrix Prime Robotics equipment, laptops, Vernier probes, a digital microscope, DNA gel electrophoresis equipment, an incubator for biological samples, two pottery wheels, a kiln, and a variety of additional scientific equipment. In addition to teaching their students computer coding, this equipment will allow them to build robots for use at their main campus and at their farm program in Troy, IL.
Metro-East Montessori School is an AMI certified, private, independent, non-profit, co-educational school for students 2 1/2 years old through 9th grade; they are located in Pontoon Beach, 15 minutes from downtown St. Louis.

VILLAGE WIDE SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL
The Village of Pontoon Beach has accepted a bid from Republic Services d/b/a Allied Waste to provide solid waste and recycling collection services for all residents of the Village of Pontoon Beach. By going to a single hauler, this will save the residents $$ and help on the wear and tear of the Village roadways. Republic Services will be sending a mailer out to all residents in August that will explain the transition, explain how to sign up, etc.
MOTOR VEHICLE CODE ADDITION
A maximum of three (3) vehicles may be parked in an unenclosed area on a single-family zoned lot. Except however, if there are more than three (3) licensed drivers permanently residing on the premises. Parking is only permitted on concrete, gravel, asphalt or stone and can not exceed 30' in width. Vehicles are not permitted to be parked on the grass. Please click here to view the Ordinance.
OPEN BURNING RESTRICTIONS
The burning of Landscape waste shall be permitted with restrictions. Landscape waste is defined as any vegetable or plant refuse, except garbage and agricultural waste. The term includes trees, tree trimmings, branches, stumps, brush, weeds, leaves, grass, shrubbery and yard trimmings.
